Interac was established in 1979 and is one of the longest serving importers and wholesale distributors to the bicycle and motor cycle trades in South Africa.
In 1984 Interac was appointed as the official South African importer and distributor of Continental 2-wheel tyres in Germany. The German company’s program of product development in the bicycle tyre sector resulted in Conti tyres becoming a market leader. This position has remained unchallenged for over 20 years.
In 1994 the company acquired the Athena Parts agency from Italy. Athena is a world leader in the production of engine gaskets, suspension seals, and advanced high performance equipment for on and off-road motor cycles. The company also produces gaskets for European vintage motorcycles, Harley-Davidson/Buell, personal watercraft, and outboard motors. Athena is an Original Equipment supplier to over 60% of European bike manufacturers.
In 2007 Interac was appointed as the sole importer and distributor of the revolutionary new Motobatt AGM Quadflex range of batteries from China. This range covers the motor cycle, marine, leisure, and agricultural markets. Motobatt became the top selling premium battery brand within 3 years of introduction to the local market and continues to hold this position.
Motobatt’s range of budget priced KAGE batteries is now also making inroads into the market as well as an expanding range of motorcycle parts and accessories from sister company Moto Accessories.
Interac was acquired by its present owners in 2009. The company was re-capitalised and was re-registered as Interac Distribution (Pty) Ltd. Interac is committed to maintaining its position as a market leader in service delivery and after sales service covering all the products it imports and distributes throughout Southern Africa. Our door is always open to communication with both our retailers and end users of our products.
